Contributory work, case by case.
We are happy to do contributory work for nonprofits — engineering where we carry part or all of the cost ourselves. There is no standing programme and no application form. There is a conversation, and a decision made on the merits of the case.
Case by case means exactly that: the mission, the work, and what we can genuinely spare at the time. We would rather take one case well than run a queue badly, and if now is not the time you will hear that plainly rather than never.
What contributory means
The same work, carried differently.
It is the same engineering we sell. The same practices, the same review gates, the same handover with runbooks — with part or all of our fee carried by us. It is not a cut-down service, because a discount that produces a worse system is not a saving.
It is not a grant programme. There is no published pot and no queue. Each case is decided on its own merits when you write to us, and how much we can carry depends on the year we are having as much as on the mission you are advancing.
Small starts are welcome. One workflow automated, one spreadsheet retired, one service that needs to exist — proved small, then extended if it earns it.
The one thing we ask
A named owner on your side. A director, a coordinator — one person who can say yes and answer a question within a working day. Not a committee. Everything else we can carry.

How it goes
One email, one call, a plain answer.
- An email The mission, the thing that is stuck, and the budget reality — even if the number is zero. That is useful, not awkward.
- A call Thirty minutes or so. We will tell you whether it is work we can take contributory, and if it is not, why.
- A scope If it is a yes: what gets built, what it costs, and what part of that we carry — in writing, before anyone starts.
